Steven Barnard – Dance

Hi, I’m Steve. I’ve been dancing since I was 9 years old, studying ballet, and then as a teenager, competing as a ballroom,
Latin American and new vogue dancer. I fell in love with guitar and punk rock in my late teens and spent six years with my band – Crying Out Loud – touring and recording all over the east coast playing big festivals of up to 5,000 people. I then started dance training again, and at 25 (I know, old, right?)
trained performing arts and contemporary dance at Ev and Bow Fulltime Studio.
At the same time I worked on my folk band Arbori, which eventually led to a third band, this time RnB. My love for hip hop began eight years ago when I was the third person to join acclaimed Phly Crew. Phly Crew was a wild adventure of comedy and dance that led me to perform on Australia’s Got Talent, Hip Hop Internationals in Vegas, on P&O cruise ships and train all over the world,
including Germany, Singapore, London and Tokyo, with incredible teachers such as Keone and Mari, Anthony Lee, Chris Martin… The list goes on. As you have read, my background is super diverse and this is onlu the half of it. I hope to bring that diversity and knowledge to my teaching at Jump PA.
